This is my planter, which is about 5 inches wide and 3 tall. It has the matte turquoise glaze on the bottom and the shiny forest green on the top. The new skill I learned was how to get good at opening twice. The art element is the shape because it is proportionate and the design element is the balance. The planter gives a very even and smooth feeling.
This is my cup with a pulled handle, and it is about the size of a normal coffee cup, maybe a little wider. It is dark green with brown speckles all over. The new skill I learned while making this was how to attach a handle to a pulled cylinder once it was already footed. The main art element is texture because of the speckles and the design element is contrast between the colors. The mug gives of a warm feeling because of the warm colors.
This is my second vase, which is going to be extra credit. It is about 6 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide with cobalt blue, burnt orange, and light blue glaze splattered on it. The new skill I used was choking the top part to create the indent before the lip. I'd say the art element is the form of the vase, it is pretty even and has a good base/foot ring. The design element is the balance between the colors. The vase gives a mellow, muted feeling.
This is my vase. It is on the smaller side and is about 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide. It has a first layer of white with blue and dark green drips down the side. The new skill I used was pulling up with one hand over the other to get a wider shape. The art element used was texture between the two colors and the design element was contrast between the stark white and the blue and greens. The vase gives off a heavy but dark kind of feeling.
This is my second bowl. It is about six inches across and 4 inches tall. its has a light green layer of glaze in the outside with orange speckles. The inside of the bowl has light green drips down the side with a pool of aqua blue and white in the bottom. The new skill I used was making the bowl have a rounder shape and a more defined lip. The art element would definitely be the color while the design element would be balance. The bowl gives off a calm feeling with the mix of blue and greens.
This is my first bowl of the quarter. Its on the smaller side, about 3.5 inches tall and 5 inches wide. It has a white base color all over it, with blue-green streaks down the sides. A new skill I used to make this project is using the blue smoother tool to try and create a smooth round surface on the bowl. The art element is the color and the design element is the balance between the streaks. The bowl shows a light, airy, delicate feel.
